On Tuesday November 22, 2011, we added a new 10th soldier to the shipment list; Cpl Dustin Fletcher, the nephew of Lisa Miller, stationed in Afghanistan.  Dustin was sent a 6.5 foot prelit tree on Wednesday, November 23, 2011, the day before Thanksgiving.

We mailed off 6 Prelit Christmas Trees this morning, Saturday, November 19, 2011; 5 were 6.5 foot and one was a special 3 foot tree for Specialist Whitney Brauch who can not receive a full size tree.

In total we are sponsoring 9 soldiers this Christmas. Two of the soldiers could not receive a tree, and one soldier was in the same unit as another already getting a tree.

Below is a list of the 9 soldiers taking part in the Christmas Shipments. I’ve also indicated which can receive trees and what size the trees are for those who want to make homemade or personalized ornaments.

  • Specialist Whitney Brauch – Cannot receive full size tree. Receiving a special 3 foot tree.
  • LCpl William Harris – Is in same unit as Daniel Lohmann who is getting a 6.5 foot tree.

The following Friday, December 2, 2011 will be the packing party for the bulk of our Christmas Shipment.  Jan and I WILL NEED HELP with this.  PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN ATTEND.

All of these soldiers can receive cards.

If you are a youth leader, PLEASE consider having your kids make cards for these guys.

PLEASE let me know if you are planning to do this – not many have volunteered so far.

(Note: when you drop off home cards, please label them with who made them.)
