Independence Day Shipment Is On It’s Way!

We managed to get the Independence Day shipment packed Friday, June 17, 2011.  We had 9 Troop Supporters helping (7 in photo above):

In total we packed 16 Large Priority Flat Rate boxes (2 for each soldier).  Pictured below are some of the special goodies we sent.

Candies topped off and filled in any crevices.

Cards, Letters, and other Correspondence went on top of the candy.

On top of everything in each box went an insert like that above. (Address was removed here - present on insert))

My request for cards and letters was met with an overwhelming response!

Michelle Gutcher and her son Timothy Gutcher from Boyne Falls, MI heard about us and our need for correspondence through a friend. They personalized 8 cards and sent them to me via Express Mail! Michelle is a Bear Cub Scout Leader and Timothy is a Bear Cub Scout from Pack 53 in Boyne Falls, MI.

Barb Breitmeyer send a stack of 56 cards from the little children at First Christian Church of Belle Vacation Bible School. She said that some of the little ones didn’t fully understand, but wanted to participate. Their precious effort is shown below.

Fatima Elementary (Osage Co R-III) in Westphalia sent 85 cards! 44 of these personalized with names, 41 written to any soldier.

Finally, a large number of cards arrived with Yvette Joyce from the summer school classes at Lawson Elementary.

All of the packages were taken to the Post Office and mailed Saturday morning.
