From Sarah Hill:

Right now, there are more than 100 mid-Missouri World War II veterans on a waiting list for a Central Missouri Honor Flight. The WWII memorial in Washington, DC was built just 5 years ago and sadly, most veterans won’t live long enough to see it. We are losing our WWII vets at a rate of more than 1000 a day nationwide. If you know of someone who would like to apply, volunteer or a adopt a veteran for a Central MO Honor flight, please go to www.komu.com/honorflight or www.centralmissourihonorflight.com to print off an application or adopt a veteran form. Honor Flights will resume in late April or early May.

Already, Mid Missouri has lost at least 6 veterans who flew on Honor Flights just last year.

George Breting

George Breting of Columbia passed away just a few days after his Honor Flight.

Art Finney

Art Finney of Jefferson City saluted his grandson on his Honor Flight. He passed a few months later.

George Anglen

George Anglen of Columbia passed away just months after his Honor Flight.

Joseph Lafferty

Joseph Lafferty flew in 2009 and died in 2010

Lew Caldwell

Lew Caldwell of Mexico flew in 2009 and passed in 2010

Ed Riley

A large crowd and American flags greeted Ed Riley of Columbia after his Honor Flight.

He passed away shortly after.

Please continue to tell mid-MO veterans about this free program called Honor Flight.
