Vets For Freedom Visit Mid Missouri

Vets for Freedom were in Marshall, Missouri 3/27/08.

It was an awesome presentation; veterans from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and the Gulf War were in attendance.

Speaking were:

David Bellavia (Click for More info)

He is the recipient of the both Silver and Bronze Stars for valor, and the Conspicuous Service Cross, New York State’s highest award for combat valor. He has also been nominated for both the Distinguished Service Cross and the Medal of Honor for his actions in a fierce urban hand-to-hand fight in the battle of Fallujah, in November 2004.

Pete Hegseth (Click For More Info)

Pete Hegseth served in Iraq with the 3rd Brigade of the 101st Airborne Division for their deployment to Iraq from 2005-2006. Pete served as an infantry Platoon Leader in Baghdad during the nationwide elections in October and December 2005, and as a Civil-Military Operations officer in Samarra. He also served in Guantanamo Bay for a year on a security mission with his National Guard unit and currently serves in the 1-69 Infantry, New York Army National Guard as a Captain. Pete holds the Bronze Star for his time in Iraq. He is a Minnesota native and graduate of Princeton University. He lives with his wife in New York City.

Jim Hanson (Click For More Info)

Jim Hanson is a former Special Forces Weapons Sergeant who writes at Blackfive.net as Uncle Jimbo. He has experience in more than two dozen countries worldwide, conducting counter-terror and counter-insurgency operations. He currently serves as Director of Business Development for Pajamas Media, a new media wire service.

Large Crowd Gathers to Show Support for Kosovo Deployment.

A large crowd gathered today (3/22/08) at the University of Missouri’s Hearnes Center in Columbia to show their support and honor the 1000 citizen-soldiers from 300 communities across the state as they prepared to deploy to Kosovo.

Patriot Guards lined the entrance with flags and circled the perimeter inside in a show of support.

Below troops stand in formation as the colors are presented.

Representatives from the Missouri Veterans Commission and USO were present.

The Unit unveiled it’s new patch.

People were allowed to write expressions of support for the unit to take with them.

Remember to keep these brave patriots in your thoughts and prayers.

Ceremony for Kosovo Deployment – Columbia, Mo

The Missouri National Guard will host a ceremony to honor 1,100 soldiers who will be deploying in support of peacekeeping operations in Kosovo.

The Ceremony will be TOMORROW March 22, 2008 at the University of Missouri’s Hearnes Center in Columbia at 11 a.m.

Units to be honored include:

-110th CSB – Kansas City
-Joint Force Missouri Headquarters – Jefferson City
-70th Troop Command – Jefferson Barracks
-1st battalion/129th Field Artillery – Maryville
-1128th Forward Support Company – Marshall
-735th Quartermaster Company – De Soto
-135th Signal Company – Lexington
-135th Rear Operations Center – St. Louis
-70th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment – Jefferson City
-3175th Military Police Company – Warrenton
